Refurbished nature trail and outdoor classroom, facilitated with collaboration from members of a BSA Eagle Scout Project.
BSA Troop 61 of Saxapahaw collaborated with Alexander Wilson Elementary School and the $5,000,000 conservation grant pledge by FRESH Carolina, LLC.
The $5,000 grant pledge is a 5-year, $1,000 per year pledge that started in December 2023. Two grant payments of $1,000 each have already been received by Alexander Wilson Elementary School.
The intended funding of this grant is the conservation of what is believed to be a "natural spring" that originates in the wooded are between the property of Honda Corporation and that of Alexander Wilson Elementary School. The water originating from the "natural spring" crosses Hwy-54 to meander as a small spring along several different local Swepsonville neighborhoods and finally ends up as a creek inside the 13 acres of commercial property, where FRESH Carolina, LLC operates.
FRESH Carolina, LLC has chosen to name this creek inside its property, the "Raymond Herring Creek".
