Water Quality Testing in Swepsonville: Link below has more information: https://youtu.be/FQ2neBW7B4Y

Every month, a group of volunteers collect water samples from three different collection sites, along the path of what "we" are calling the Alexander Wilson Natural Spring and the Raymond Herring Creek.

The water path starts at the AWE Nature Trail located in the wooded area behind the elementary school. The small body of water forms a creek that crosses State Highway 54 and meanders along East-Central Swepsonville, before entering the private property leased by FRESH Carolina, LLC.

The creek section inside the private property has been named Raymond Herring Creek. This creek supplies fresh water to what we have named Swepson Lake. The water quality in Swepson Lake is essential to the fish and wildlife sustained in the nearby area.

Historically, Swepsonville Lake is what remains of an old aqueduct built [perhaps before 1960] in order to provide all the water needs for the Virginia Mills factory that was still thriving at the time (permanently closed in 1970).
